Youth Involvement Advisor
Can you develop youth hubs that promote democratic engagement and activism? Do you want to shape and link initiatives across the globe? Can you support start-up initiatives to become sustainable and independent? Then join our effort to strengthen the youth work across ActionAid and partners to promote sustainable, innovative and expanding youth initiatives as our new Youth Involvement Advisor.
ActionAid Denmark works to unite people in the struggle against social injustice, exclusion, poverty and inequality. As part of the international ActionAid Federation AADK is deeply engaged in areas of work where we have a special interest and expertise.
One such area is youth where the Youth, Organising and Activism (YOA) team is working to strengthen our global youth network for learning and organizing through social movement building, organizing, rooted campaigning and youth-led activism by working directly with young people their networks, organisations and movements. The team is ensuring that AADK is innovative and experimenting in its approach to youth by supporting and linking progressive youth movements as well as testing and learning from youth-led innovation pilots. By applying a learning, testing and fail forward approach the pilots and results are collected to inform and scale our work within AA and beyond.
A main component of our international Youth work is our international network of Global Platforms. Global Platforms is a network of youth-led spaces for building collective power. Our mission is to support young people, organisations and movements in their fight for social justice around the world.
The Global Platforms support youth-led activism in three connected ways:
- Spaces for participatory and action-oriented learning.
- Spaces for creative activism and organising for social justice.
- Spaces for connecting people, organisations and movements.
- Our aim is to be a catalyst for youth-led activism where and when it is needed. Therefore, the support we offer, and local setup varies depending on the needs and context. A Global Platform can either be a space for capacity building where young people live and learn together, a youth hub for creative activism and organising that is entirely managed by young people or online communities focusing on peer-to-peer learning.
- Currently we have Global Platforms in Africa, Asia, Latin America, MENA and Europe – but our aim is to support the network to grow and expand through new youth led initiatives initiated by organizations, movements, AA partners and other relevant stakeholders sharing our vision of youth led social change.
