About DAI and the Feed the Future Tanzania Advancing Youth! Project
DAI, a global consulting firm headquartered in Washington, DC, USA seeks a communication expert for the USAID funded. Feed the Future Tanzania Advancing Youth project which aims to use positive youth development approaches to empower rural Tanzanian youth. The Feed the Future Tanzania Advancing Youth Activity is a five-year initiative (August 2017-August 2022) funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) DAI is the prime implementer and is supported by contractors SNV, responsible for the Livelihoods component. Pathfinder International, tasked with Healthy Life Skills component, and KhangaRue Media, focused on media content development.
Feed the Future Tanzania Advancing Youth was created to harness and link youth to agribusiness opportunities in the Southern Agriculture Growth Corridor investments. The project covers Iringa and Mbeya regions in the mainland and both Unguja and Pemba in Zanzibar. The project’s goal is to increase economic opportunities for rural young people between the ages of 15 and 35. The activity is dedicated to building youth entrepreneurship, leadership, and workforce-readiness skills and empower youth to become leaders in their communities by connecting them to opportunities promoting employment, wellbeing, and leadership. The activity will achieve this by:
Increasing entrepreneurship and workforce readiness skills among i youth. (IR1)
Strengthening leadership and positive youth development. (IR 2)
Enhancing life skills for healthy living and future planning. (IR 3)
Position Details
Job Title Driver (1) post
Reporting to: Senior Human Resource and Administration Officer
Location: Dar es Salaam
Duties and Responsibilities
S/he will:
Routine maintenance and care of office vehicles including but not limited to minor routine repairs;
Drive office vehicles safely and chauffeur office staff, official visitors and guests to official destinations:
Takes careful note of all available information concerning street conditions, effective routes and locations;
Assists in the transport of goods;
Maintain vehicle cleanliness. Regularly cleans inside and outside the office vehicle. Wash car when it is required and advised;
Checks oil, water, brakes and clutch fluids daily; tire pressures, battery water, and overall vehicle condition on regular basis and every 5000 km whichever comes first, tests lights, brakes, bodywork for dents, etc;
Is responsible for accuracy of project vehicle documents and its care, keeps vehicle logbook updated daily and registers each monthly check and maintenance/repair works required;
Calculates the petrol, oil, and lubricant (POL) use monthly;
Reports the need for maintenance and undertakes minor repairs;
Report any emergency or incidents immediately. Immediately reports any involvement of the project/office vehicle in any, even minor accidents, or any damage or theft of equipment from the vehicle;
If there is no outside driving activity, s/he stands by in the office, supports other colleagues on need basis, and does other office work as assigned by supervisor;
Other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
Possession of a valid driver’s license
At least 1 years of experience working in a similar position for an NGO or an international organization is preferred
No history of major accidents within the past 1 year
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Hard-working, disciplined and punctual
Maintain a professional relationship with project Employees and staff
Strong sense of client service and strong communication skills
Have a solid understanding of the Project region or Area of work
Strong understanding of the local area, places, and culture
Possess understanding vehicle operating systems
Ability to receive a clear police background check
Fluency in English required
