Purpose of the position:
Based at the Mbeya office. He/she will support the project manager in the delivery of project related interventions.
Major Responsibilities:
Strategic Engagement
- Support the manager to oversee the PEPFAR Tanzania FBO initiative being accountable for project outputs and results as set out in the proposal and ensure the technical quality of interventions and delivery approaches is met
- Prepare an annual detailed implementation plan and provide 6 monthly narrative and financial reports
- Analyse progress and recommend changes in consultation with the manager, staff and community stakeholders
- Ensure that project interventions are implemented within existing MOH framework and structures, thereby ensuring compliance, avoiding duplication and strengthening the MoH system.
- In consultation with the manager, develop and implement a detailed work plan outlining all the necessary steps to reach training targets for facilitators and Community Health Workers as required
Advocacy, Networking and Business Relationships
- Support the manager to work in cooperation with the Ministry of Health to improve government interventions in the area of HIV & AIDS
- At the delegation of the manager, provide representation and advocacy for World Vision (WV) and other HIV programming at the National level forums using evidence based framework.
Team Performance Management
- Ensure a high performance management culture, open trustworthy, relationships and integrity to enhance smooth staff relations and accountability
- Ensure good communication of project goals, progress, risks and expectations to all staff, stakeholders and partners
Project Management and Supervision
- Responsible for reporting to appropriate government entities using standard WV (country office) processes for inclusion of project outcomes in local and national health management information systems
Capacity Building
- Support the facilitation of training for target FBOS on channels of Hope methodology
Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:
A first degree in a medical related field (BSC Nursing, public health). Experience in implementing HIV & AIDS projects will be an added advantage.
Other technical skills
- Good budget management skills
- Ability to work in a facilitative and participatory approach
- Understanding and experience of community based approaches to health programming
- Ability to liaise with people at all level – government partners, donors, communities and staff with diplomacy, tact and collaboration.
- Appreciation of gender related issues
Computer skills
Working Environment / Conditions:
- Work environment: Will be stationed in Mbeya
- Travel: 30% Domestic/International travel is required
- On Call
