National Logistics Manager 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Logistics function by developing and reviewing an effective distribution model which is aligned to Tanga Cement’s overall business strategy, optimizes opportunities, is flexible to market challenges and meets customer expectations and requirements

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Design and formulate distribution strategies supported by a distribution model which addresses and meets the demands of a dynamic and changing business environment
  • Manage the implementation and updating of the distribution model to meet ongoing business objectives and demands
  • Manage the relationship with rail and road transporters and other strategic partners to achieve the required business outcomes
  • Manage the cost structure and operating costs of the Logistics function and compliance to Tanga Cement  administrative processes
  • Lead and manage people to achieve performance objectives
  • Ultimately responsible for safe working practices especially in areas of responsibility
  • Environment:  Ensure environmental procedures are complied with, identify and manage the environmental aspects and impacts in his/her area and instil environmental awareness culture in his/her area.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by line management


Key requirements:

Education

Bachelor degree in Logistics/Supply Chain/Operations Management or a related field
Post Graduate in Sales & Marketing/ MBA will be an added advantage
Experience



10 years of experience in a Supply Chain Management environment giving exposure to and responsibility in different functions related to transport, logistics, planning and warehousing
Experienced in managing and leading staff
Certified CSCP/ SCOR-P/ CSCMP/ CPL
Experienced with sales function

Knowledge & Skills

  • Good general knowledge of supply chain management
  • Good understanding of Cement business
  • Good understanding of macro-economic factors and relevant government legislation
  • Good knowledge of systems and business processes that support the supply chain management function
  • Proficient in using computer software
  • Proficient in the relevant SAP modules
  • Business and financial acumen and the ability to conceptualize the broader business picture
  • Able to provide direction and leadership to the department
  • Confident in decision making
  • Able to facilitate synergy and cooperation in multi-disciplinary teams
  • The ability to engender confidence and create an environment in which team members can excel
  • A results and continuous improvement orientation
