Project Overview

ACHIEVE is a five-year, USAID-funded global cooperative agreement with the dual objectives of attaining and sustaining HIV epidemic control among at-risk and hard to reach pregnant and breastfeeding (PBF) women, infants, children, and youth, as well as to mitigate the impact of HIV/ AIDS and prevent HIV transmission among these populations; and supporting the transition of prime funding and implementation to capable local partners in order to meet the PEPFAR goal of 70% of funding to local partners.

ACHIEVE is funded by USAID in Tanzania to implement a four-year activity (October 2020 to April 2024) which aims: (1) to improve national- and community-level social welfare systems in order to sustain support for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and families affected by HIV and (2) to strengthen the capacity of local organizations to deliver OVC services and (3) to deliver high quality OVC services and DREAMS interventions for AGYW 9-14 years.

Job Objective:

To safely operate Achieve project vehicles efficiently and to provide administrative assistance to the Achieve project as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate Achieve vehicles in accordance with Tanzanian traffic laws.
  • Maintain fuel, mileage, and maintenance logs for the vehicles.
  • Ensure that vehicles are maintained in good running order.
  • Assist with office administrative support such as photocopying, filing, binding of documents, filling, etc., as needed
  • Conduct deliveries, airport pick-ups and messenger services efficiently by taking the most direct routing.
  • Advise staff on safe driving policy when necessary.
  • Ensure the vehicle is clean and in good condition all the time.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma/Form IV Certificate or equivalent qualification
  • Certification from a reputable Driver’s Education School
  •  Class C driver’s licens
  • Computer skills will be an added advantage.

Experience and Skills

  • At least two years experience as a driver/messenger, with preference for experience with USAID or other donors.
  • Safe driving record
  • Must be well acquainted with basic knowledge on vehicle parts and be able to diagnose vehicle related faults at first place.
  • Long distance driving experience
  • Good oral communication ability.
  • Polite, easy going, ability to work with variety of different people and cultures.
  • Ability to work after normal working hours to transport staff/consultants to airport and other locations.
  • Strong language capability in both Kiswahili and English.
  • Must be honest and demonstrate the highest degree of integrity.
  • Ability to write a work-related report.
